My shift shaft is broken where it goes into the case above the clutch. How would one replace that shaft? thank you

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, Mikey... I believe that shaft can be easily removed from inside the case.
Been a while since I changed my clutch spring. Hope I remember correctly.

Lady ran me down the other day. Her bumper did damage to the side of my bike, that looks to be the worst though.

By removing the engine case cover that the shaft resides in.

Difficulty factor depends on what's in your toolbox and your brain pan.

MikeyC, Looks like side cover and clutch basket will need to come off to replace shift shaft. Littlebull

That don't sound bad, I was afraid that shaft had gears on it.

Hey Biker Ron, that is perfect, that list has all my broken parts. I just have to open it up and make sure the springs and stuff inside are still intact and check the casing.
Thank you all

And downloading a service manual will show the procedure even better.

I'm sure there is a member here that can link you to one for free.

Mine's an '09 and I wouldn't touch my bike without referring to the service manual first.
