coil wires which color to which terminal? 6 Months ago
Hi. I have 2000 roadstar. I disconnected the coils to do something else and forgot which wires -- on right side coil go to which terminal... There is a gray wire and a red wire (maybe red and black). Does the gray wire go on terminal closest to frame? or other way?

The manual doesn't say and I do remember a Yamaha Rep saying to be sure they go back the same way they came off. If I remember correctly one of the terminals is a right angle and fits easier in one position than the other.

Maybe someone here who has the tank off can look and see.

Orthogonal, Have a 99 with the tank off. Red is toward the frame, black and gray to the outside. Littlebull

Fixed. It ran fine with them switched for about 5 mi, then fuel guage quit and my custom turn headlite wiring was acting strange, headlite was strobing. And also one cyl began misfiring. Then i remebered i had wrapped the coils recently n wasnt sure i put the right ones wires in correct terminal, well i didnt but just fixed. It is all working now thx! Strange though it ran fine for five miles.

I really shldnt b allowed to work on this thing
