~E.D. BIG TOURING COMPARISON TO OEM~ 11 Months, 1 Week ago
Below are a series of side by side photos to show the difference between the OEM and the E.D Big Touring Seat.

FIRST set of photos shows explains why so many of you riders are experiencing discomfort in the groin, tailbone, and under thigh areas.

OEM (on the top): Take note of the hump all the way down the middle from front to back, how it rolls off on the sides where your sit bones should be.
E.D. (on the bottom): Shows, with the level, how we have eliminated these hot spots and contoured the seat to correct these pressure point areas.
~~
SECOND set of photos highlights the length of usable sitting surface.

OEM (on the top): Has considerable less usable space from front to back. Pushing the level back any further than this point causes the level to rise on the backside upwards of 1-1/2 inches, leaving a gap to the sitting surface and creating a pressure point at the lower tailbone area.

E.D. (on the bottom): Gives the rider more surface area without the pressure on the tailbone and leaves no gap when sliding level all the way back. You can see there is about three inches more length front to back, and our seat is two inches wider at the back.
~~
THIRD set of photos gives a side view of each seat which highlights the sitting surface at a different angle.

OEM (on the top): You can see the potato chip shape and the dip in the middle where the seat runs out of usable space.

E.D. (on the bottom): Shows the correct contour to promote comfort.

LAST set of photos shows the bottom of the seat cushion and how it is stapled on.

OEM (on the top) and E.D. (on the bottom):

You can see that this E.D. Seat is ON an OEM seat pan.

This is called our Big Touring OEM Kit. It offers the same comfort as our replacement seat but without the added cost of our seat pan.

E.D. Seats BIG TOURING KIT is only available for the Road Star. It cannot be purchased on my website; you need to contact me direct to purchase this kit.

If you are looking to get maximum comfort on a minimum budget, then look no further, this is for YOU!

I could put this comparison up against ANY aftermarket seat on the market and get equal results.

~ Do not buy this seat if you enjoy the pain associated with your stock seat or any other aftermarket seat you already own. If you enjoy riding in comfort and want to be able to walk the next day, then this seat is for YOU! ~

This is sold as a DIY kit and is very easy to assemble. However, if you do not want to DIY, then simply ship me your OEM seat and I will mount it for you for just the cost of seat plus shipping.

Price is $225 with studs / $200 without studs (plus shipping).

Thank you!

Not all stock seats are the same. My 2008 is flat, wide and has a distinctive bend.

Can you do this deal with the standard ED seat? I think this one might have me up on my toes.

I am very interested in replacing my factory seat. Does this setup raise the rider. I really don't want to sit any higher. Thanks

It might sit you up just a little bit compared to the "Standard ED" seat. I'm not sure if it sits you higher than the stock seat,I'm sure Mike can answer that. I bought a standard seat from Mike and I liked it alot especially when compared to the Mustang seat that I had (and the Mustang was a great improvement from the OEM seat). I even had the Mustang seat modified with a Gel insert and reshaped. I then sat on a ED Big touring seat (At the Celina M&G) and liked it even more. I was within my trial period that ED seats allows so I traded in the ED Standard for the Big touring seat and haven't looked back. Both seats are extremely comfortable and either one is a great choice, I just liked the Big touring seat more for my riding style. I am only 5'7" tall and my feet are firmly planted on the ground when at a stop. The Big Tour seat is also good for a taller guy because it also allows you to sit back some while riding. The seat in the pic is for a friend of mine. He sat on my bike and loved the feel of the ED big touring seat so he ordered the recover kit on his seat pan. Mike did a great job on the install of the cover kit.

Thanks Mike!!!!!

I have recovered all year RS oem. Even when they are a slightly different shape, it doesn't change most of the areas that needed to be fixed. Oem uses a very poor cushion (low pressure foam) and has no contours to promote long term comfort. They simply do not compare to the E.D. Big Touring seat in comfort, materials used, custom contours, and long term reliability. This applies to all year models.

Thanks

CheifRB, Is it possible to get the cover kit for your rear seat also? Or is your rear pan reshaped to allow the seat to be wider? Littlebull

I asked Mike that same question just yesterday. He said that the ED passenger seat is wider and the cover would not fit the stock passenger seat pan.

He sells passenger seats and you can get it with a drivers backrest mounted on it. That would make you both happy.
