First, really good penetrating oil (JB or the like) let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes and try the vice grip.

HEAT the "frame section" (not the bol) for about 5 min with a small butain type torch, then put an ice cube on the bolt end. Retry the vice grip.

file "flats" on two opposite side of the bolt and use a wrench to grab and turn.

Good luck

Shove a piece of drill in the hole to keep it from collapsing and then put vise grips on?

Can you weld a nut onto the end of the bolt?

Cike, Do you have a welder. Weld a nut to the bolt left sticking out. When you fill the hole it will keep it from collapsing and the heat from the weld will help break it loose. Good luck, Mike.

I agree with "fpontarolo", I would use a Dremel tool with a cut off disc, and make a slot fore a broad tip flat screwdriver. Soak with a good penetrating oil, let sit for about 30 minutes, and give it a try. This has worked for me in the past. Good luck Steve.

I hate the damn button heads on the road star, had the same thing happen when I removed the bracket to get at the front pulley to check it, ended up drilling out one of the bolts, banged the other one off with a cold chisel my neighbor had, ruined the bracket, bought another bracket, managed to drill out bolt I chiseled off, retapped the bolt hole. What an ordeal, put in two new bolts with 17mm heads and blue lock tite, seems to be working just fine. GOD I HATE THE DAMN BUTTON HEAD BOLTS!!!!!!

Go with the heat instead of penetrating oil. Heat will never fail You.
