smhowse, did you travel route 66 from Barstow to Needles? If so how was the road? Would you recommend not riding it? How far between gas? I have plans to ride that area in a couple of weeks, to know as much as I can. Thanks for any information you can give me.
Hey, I'd be curious to hear what smhowse replies also.
Done that run out to Havasu from So Cal a half dozen times.

Yes, I did most of the route 66 from Barstow to Needles there was a section that got really really bad I thought my front end was going to fall off and jumped back on the 40. don't remember exactly where it was at. Most of the road was great way better than riding the freeway!

Gas was right at about 100 miles or so.

I don't remember where I was exactly when I almost ran out of gas but my fuel light was on and I was at 125 miles riding at as low a rpm as possible when I found this Route66 station with $5. gas. I was glad to pay it. There was a guy on a dual sport who came in right after me freaking out too he had a extra little gas can for emergencies he already used to get there.
