How to use Road Star Web Search 10 Years, 6 Months ago
Just a quick how to for our new search engine.

Benefits: Searches only site we have preselected for the engine rather than the whole web, resulting on far less false hits and more focused results. Instead of always starting a search with "road star" you can simply enter your search terms (like carburetor or tires or whatever your looking for).

As of today, we have almost 80 sites loaded into the engine.

How To:

If you like to use advanced search features of Google, be sure your up on how to use them without the "advanced" search page. Details are at:
http://www.google.ca/intl/en/help/refinesearch.html

This engine has several categories of web sites, any of which can be used to refine a search. These are located at the top of the search, just below any sponsored links that may show up:

Clicking on any of these refinement links forces the engine to use the websites we have added to that category. If you have a question about how we categorized any particular site you see returned in the results, look to the bottom of that sites results and you will see what category/s we put it into.

The only glitch I have found, is that if a search does not return a result (say you searched for price, then refined to user sites and no user sites had that word in them). In this instance, the refinement links go away. Just click on the search button again and you will be back at the full -unrefined- list. The back button isn't doing anything for me on this engine, so this seems to work well in its place.

If you have refined a search, and want to return to the full list, click on the "All Road Star Sites" link and you will return to the full list.

Please let me know of any more sites we need to add. I would like to get even more than we have now.
