Since adding the hard bags and the tour pack and I already had the back rest I mount from the right by laying my left leg on the seat and sliding on. That way I don't kick my bags and scuff them.

Sounds cool but what if the bike rolls forward a little while you're up in the air with no feet on the ground? If the bike rolled enough to let the kickstand go up it seems like that would be an instant face plant. But, if it works for you that's great.BikerRon wrote:

Same for mounting. I have factory hard bags and this a lot of real estate to clear with my 11D boot without scuffing anything. I place my right boot on the running board and step up, and swing my left leg over.

Won’t roll with the front brake clamped during this procedure. Besides, we’re talking Houston here. Only hills we have are freeway overpasses.
