I asked about valve open or closed because if it is closed you likely don't have a stuck valve or a valve problem. It is just in the closed position and the cam/lifter is the problem.If it was stuck open it could indicate a stuck or bent valve along with a cam/lifter issue. If you have a rubber mallet hit the top of the valve or rocker and my guess is the the valve will open and close properly. Then pull the cam cover and see what all is bad or broken.

I have a good 1700 cam,lifters and pushrods with around 10k miles on them. I might be able to help you out if shipping isn't to much to your side of the world

As stated I think your'e going to want to pull the cam cover. That pushrod should move if there's anything left of the cam lobe. even with a flattened lifter.

Yep should be some movement,noise or something going on.

thanks again for the replies..... both my son and i have been busy but i think we will have a chance tomorrow to pull things off and have a look. thanks for the offer for parts.
