Fuel Guage question 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
So it's that time of year to put the bike away for the winter. I put stabil in, turned the petcock off and ran it til the bike stalled. I filled the tank but the Guage is only reading 3/4 full. Is there a problem with the guage? Should I be concerned? Thanks.

Either the actual gage pointer’s shaft is sticking or the sending unit is crapping out.

Usually, the latter.

Don't all our bikes only read 3/4 full for the first few miles until the bike has been ridden, then sweeps to full?

That's what mine does. Takes probably 4 or 5 miles to read properly.

Well, yea. But I usually fill up at the gas station and ride it home which will get it back to a full reading before I get to the house.

OP didn’t mention anything about filling it up from a Jerry can at home, so.....

I used a small gas can. It might take a few minutes down the road to move the needle.

Ah. Okay.

They have a buffering delay in the fuel gauge so the needle isn’t swinging wildly when the fuel is sloshing around in the tank when riding.
