Transfer Gear Oil Drain Bolt -99 Road Star 13 Years, 7 Months ago
I'd like to change the transfer geal oil, so I bought some and now I realise I can't get this wide slotted bolt to unscrew. I don't want to damage the bolt. I don't have what appears to be a special tool required. Does anyone know what I need and where I can get one. Thanks again.

I used a heavy duty washer clamped in visegrlps. You could also grind it down to fit better but I did not bother.

Yeah, so far everything I've used either bends out of shape or scratches the bolt. Yamaha dealer says they use a wide Snap-on screwdriver. I might have to bring it there so they can loosen the bolt cuz she's on way too tight. Thanks again.

If it's on that tight, you're right, it's best to have the dealer 'screw' up.

I just 'snugged' mine on.
