ignition module whoos 13 Years, 7 Months ago
Well it is now three times that the ignition module has burnt out. One was a Speedstar unit and two have been Dyna 3000's. now I am told that there must be an elictrical problem! No shit!!!! I told them that the last time. since Florida's lemon law does not include mororcycles I sure hope they get this fixed. Sure hope that the Yamaha service people can help out the people down here. The only hope I have is that the Owner likes me and has helped me out in the past. The mechanic has done a super job tunning the bike but seems to be lost with this problem. Dynateck payed for the last module. Wonder if i should let them know that it was not their product. i will keep all informed as to the outcome!

Ck your wiring around the coils and from the pick up for shorts to ground if all looks ok. I'd look at the coils, once they heat up they will intermitantlly short internally and wipe out moduels and pick-ups.
There are specs foir ohming the coils in the book if they are either on the low or High side I would replace them. You should be able to get your hand on a stock set pretty easily as so many install the dana coils.

hope this helps
