Will A Road Star Fit...? 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago
Hey, Gang... a friend wants to go check out 2 Road Stars tomorrow, and to possibly buy 1 of them.

He has an '03 Toyota Tacoma with a 6' long bed... can we safely get a Road Star in that bed and get it back home???

I've measured one of mine, and I can tell it will either be a very tight fit, or not at all, but it sure won't be easy!

I'm writing to ask if anyone KNOWS whether it will work, or NOT. Some one have actual experience, or seen it done???

I'm not sure how you are gonna get it in there but if you do, put the front tire into a front corner and rear tire in a back corner strapped down side to side. That will give a little more room for the bike to set. IMO I would rent a $15 a day bike trailer and not worry about dumping the bike loading or unloading.

I think the best thing woukd be is to rent a uhaul. For $25.00, it mkes it too easy. You can drive it in. Some have a built in section to place the front wheel. It is a heavy trailer, with a lot of pipe railing to tie down. When I bought my 1700, I used it, rather then trying to load it into the back of my truck. Loading into a tuck requires at least 2 people. This trailer you can load by yourself.

The roadstar is over 8ft tip to tip so im going to say not safely. I also agree get a Uhaul nd trailer. Makes it safe and sound with a few ratchet straps.

Or better yet. Ride the thing home

Thanks, guys... I really do want to know if one can fit in the 6' bed of a Toyota Tacoma. If it can, we'll do it.

If anyone's tried, and couldn't, I'd certainly want to know that.

But, if anyone here says, Yeh, it fits, that's how we're going for it.

Stock bike is 98" long I believe, Diagonally the box is 92" maybe 94" so with tailgate down and some plywood in the bed to help support the load on the tailgate it looks doable, ps,make sure your tailgate straps are in good condition. http://www.truckbedsizes.com/tacoma/ http://www.truckaddons.com/tonneau-bed-measurements-guide.html

I did 1300+ miles with mine in the back of a ford ranger, AZ to KS. I loaded it on and off myself. I had no problems at all.
I’ll measure my bed and share more in a couple of hours when I get home.

pbirk, I'd really appreciate that!

Tip to tip doesn't matter. A turned front wheel into one front bed corner, to the contact patch of the rear tire toward the other back corner is all that matters. If that length is 6' or under, it can likely be done... and, if pbirk's Ranger bed is 6', then it's almost a certainty!

The Tacoma bed diagonally is about 93" the bikes wheel base is 66.5" so add about 12 or 13" for 1/2 the front wheel leaves you just under 80" to contact patch of rear wheel, so yes it should fit the Tacoma.
