Harbor Freight Tag Along Trailer Recall 1 Month ago
Last summer before I left for the NW Starfest I had mentioned in a conversation around my mother in law that I was planning on getting a trailer for my bike. Probably the Tag Along from Harbor Freight. I said something like the trailer and hitch would probably cost me about $500.

Well for my birthday today she enclosed 5 crisp $100 bills in my card! Also a note that she decided to give me this gift last July. She's retired and on some sort of a fixed income. I figured it was too much and wanted to give it back. But I know how she is and she wouldn't take it. So I graciously accepted the gift.

Then I go to look up the trailer on the HF site and couldn't find it anywhere. I called the local store and they told me about the tire recall about 4 months ago. Because of that HF took ALL trailers of of their site and removed them from store inventory. The person at the store didn't know when or if they would get trailers back in stock.

So I have 5 bills burning a hole in my pocket. The Tag Along would have been perfect for me. I don't want to spend $1500 on a trailer that I won't use that often. But I can't find anything in the price range of the Tag Along. Any ideas an economical trailer?

Darrel, if you are on Facebook, take a look on the facebook group motorcycle camping there are sometimes people selling or deals info on construction, etc.

Hey Darrell is this the trailer you are looking for ?

Northern Tool has the same stuff as Harbor Freight. I sometimes wonder if its the same company under 2 different names.

Just trying to help you spend your money. Wouldnt want you to have a hole burned in your pocket then you would lose the key to your bike and all hell would break loose

I was checking that one out yesterday. It’s more expensive than the HF trailer, but it looks like better quality. I think a lot of people spend money modifying the HF trailers. Bearings, lights, springs, etc.

I’d have to pay $150 shipping. Or I could spend about $160 on gas and take a ride to Fargo and pick it up. But then I’d have to ride through North Dakota. (Montana joke)

I’m also considering building one. I’m not sure what that would end up costing. I could use torsion springs instead of leaf.

I have some time to think it over. I just want to have something before July.

That's interesting. I've never seen one like that. I wonder how they make the 3/4" hitch pin. He says is an SS bolt, but it looks polished.
