Rider backrest with Ultimate passenger seat 1 Year, 5 Months ago

Just picked up a used Ultimate passenger seat (happy wife...) but have found out that my existing rider backrest doesn't work with it. I have the OEM stock rider seat - no idea what model the rider back rest from previous owner is (Yamaha OEM?) but the bar that goes from the mount to the back rest curves around the front of the stock passenger pillion but wont work with the Ultimate pillion.

Question - what are my options here?
Do I need to purchase the Ultimate backrest?
Will another backrest work with this setup (stock rider + ultimate passenger)?
Can I modify what I have to work somehow (pics of your setup if you have done this)?

You either need to build your own or buy an Ultimate that slides in the slot on the rear Ultimate seat.
