I took apart the triple tree as the steering felt funny and my diagnosis was correct. The bottom bearing had water mixed with the grease but the bearing and the race were okay. Clean both bearings, drilled and tapped the neck to install new grease fittings. After reinstalling the triple tree I grease the whole neck by way of the new grease fittings. Now I will check them again when I hit 30,000 but until then I will grease the neck every time I change the oil.

I also replaced the fork oil in both forks too Dexron 6. I rode to work today which is a 50 mile one-way commute and it was awesome. Much better than before.

Good that you caught it in time. I found the lower bearing the same way and greased them both but didn't do the zerk fittings. And the fork oil change does make a difference. I put 7.5 back in mine and it
handle's much better.

Just did mine last month as well had to take off the damaged tins and check the bearings. I also went with the 7.5 oil in the forks. I would love to find some fork seal covers to put on mine the tins arn't going back on. I like the look of the front end with all that stuff on it. BTW it my 05 not the 07.

Curt, have you looked at the ones for Harleys? Hogging out the ID wouldn't be hard (only a 2mm diff.). Just don't know about the OD compared to the R*.

Some Victory bikes have 43mm forks. That may also be an option.
