Am I Over Insured 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I know this has been discussed many times, But just total $$ I believe. I have a just received my renewal policy and want to know if I need all that I'm being billed for.

I have Great healthcare insurance with Medicare and my supplement is paid by my former employer (retired). Total deductible is $147 medicare and $100 supplement each year. My former employer even pays my monthly Medicare parts A & B. That being said, here is my coverage;

Uninsured/Under insured 25,000 each person/50,000 each accident $36
Liability to others, 100,000 each person, 300,000 each accident $38
Medical Payments, 5,000 each person $59
Comprehensive, Disappearing Deductible (now zero) $23
Collision, Disappearing Deductible (now zero) $85
Accessory Coverage 3,000 Included
Roadside Assistance $10
Total ----------------------------------------------------------- $251
Full pay discount -$29
Total Due ----------------------------------------------------- $222

So, if there are any Insurance guys here, please advise. I am located in central Ohio

Thanks, Jinx

Sounds like a good level to me. Mine is the same. Check your medical policy for riders affecting payout on motorcycling. I also have AFLAC for accident and hospitalization. Partially for work, but mostly for the bike. Since you are retired, long and short term disability are moot, but I've seen people in pretty bad financial shape from an accident (although not on a bike)

25K is not near enough property damage coverage nowadays, unless you only plan on crashes involving 10 year old cars.

Damn, I want to know how you guys are getting insurance so cheap? I've been thinking about switching over to Liberty Mutual to bundle with my homeowners and auto insurances. I pay $36/month with Progressive right now and have about the same coverage as you guys, minus a some of the Progressive offered health insurance since my job provides me with awesome health insurance at a much lower rate. I'm 31 with a pretty clean driving record too, with only one wreck on my record in the last 10 years that was a total loss (not at fault). Anyone have any recommendations on more affordable options for me?

Ryan, we are pretty young in comparison and live in populated ares where insurance just cost more. That definitely makes a difference.

Anyone have any recommendations on more affordable options for me? Do your homework and go online and get some quotes or call a broker. Can be a big price difference between carriers. Get quotes for exact coverages.

How long have you had your motorcycle endorsement? I've had mine for 19 years. It helps. You might shop around and ask if you can get a better rate by taking the advanced course or anything like that. I have Dairyland. I won't EVER carry Progressive again, because of what they told me when I got cleaned out by the pickup truck. I was NOT represented properly, because it would have cost them more to pursue the claim properly. Screw that! I am the one paying the bills, and I should get EXACTLY what I paid for. Thieves in my opinion. I had trouble years ago with Allstate in the same kind of way. I have USAA auto insurance. They don't do motorcycles. They direct you to Progressive.

I just switched to Progressive about a week ago with almost identical coverage for 244 per year in Western New York.
