Are we driving the $ up ? 3 Years, 10 Months ago
I've been trying to buy a GL1800 shock on EBay for my buddy(have mine). The prices have been going up. Have they caught onto us? Are we driving these prices up ?

Thinking we should stick together and refuse to pay those high prices. I'm on now at $101.57 and that's it, no higher.

Im a guilty party in paying that much. I was able to get cheap prices way back and now i cant. I had to adjust my price on roadwings. I was watching that shock as well but i wont bid on it unless someone jumps it up seeing you said no more

Thanks for the comeback. I was wondering if you had to increase your $. Your Time and shipping are worth even more bucks. I know I wouldn't sell/ship for what you were charging

So, you're the one. I had that on my watch list when I saw it around $32, and when I went on this morning...??? I'm out.

I refuse to believe that the Goldwing is the only bike out there that uses that shock. If it's not manufactured by Honda themselves then there has to be "clones" of them out there somewhere you would think? I'll do a bit of research and report back.

I would like to find a second source for the RAP's. Being able to buy a newer than 20 year old unit for a decent price and without having to buy the shock would make things a whole lot better...

I wonder if the sellers even know where these are going. I'm guessing that when they see previous listings have all sold, and for increasing amounts, they raise their prices accordingly. Sometimes it's ridiculous though. There's a used one on Ebay now for $525 OBO.

I've seen some other RAP units, but I'm not sure what is compatable. I know we have to look at the size of the banjo fitting, but I'm not sure what other types of hose fittings work, or if there is any difference in the volume or pressure of the units.

I put this in another thread as well but the general rule of thumb on used equipment is that it is worth around 30% of its BRAND NEW value. Most sellers believe they should only drop the price 30% so there is a large discrepancy in price range there. Ebay is all about what some will pay for an item, not necessarily what it's worth.

To reply to TReynolds, I wonder if we sent a unit to our friends in India if we couldn't have one of their plats just manufacture us a run of them?

Might be worth taking a look into how much each unit would cost to just produce the roadwing ourselves manufactured to the converted dimensions?

I thin I will email them right now.
