JD, if storing a tire as you suggested does it need to be lying flat on one side of can it stand up. I have a new Commander II that will not get used for a month or two just wondering. I'm I north Florida where it is getting hot and humid.

Thanks, Greg

I posted a couple days ago about a defective Shinko tire I purchased from JP cycle and the terrible customer service I received from them. Well I contacted Shinko corp and explained my situation with the tire. They replied back within 24hrs but needed more info and a couple pics along with the name of the place that mounted the tire. I sent them all the requested info along with pics showing the dot on the tire aligned with the valve stem as requested. Well I just received an email from Shinko that read

"Hi David,

We have a replacement tire shipping out to you. I will get you a tracking number when one is available."

My hat is off to Shinko Corp for a fantastic customer service experience and for handling the issue in a very timely manner.

I didn't expect these results and so fast of results so I bought another tire locally and had it mounted just this morning.. I guess that after the poor response from JP Cycle I lost faith in all customer service.
When I had the new one mounted the guy spun the defective tire and found the bad spot just as I said. It was almost 1/4 inch out of round he reffered to it as a high spot.
Wow, I had the exact same problem but just tossed the Shinko in the rafters and bought a Metzeler to replace it. I called Chaparral Motorsports (who I got it from) and they said to contact Shinko, I didn't want to hassle with it, maybe I should have! Here is my original thread on it. http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,187/func,view/id,950069/catid,49/limit,10/limitstart,0/

I had to laugh when I went to your link. I was the first to comment and said

"First Shinko issue I have heard of. I hope it was an isolated incident because I have a brand new rear Shinko HD WWW sitting here to install during spring maint."

And then had the same exact issue just at a different speed. I also used 1 1/2 bottles of rideon.

Hey Dave, that's certainly refreshing to hear. Well done Shinko. Seems like good customer service is becoming more and more rare these days. Don't even get me started on Apple...

Yah, but I don't think it was as bad as yours and the extra RideOn took care of it.

Dave, that's great to hear you got resolution.

I was disappointed to hear about J&P. I'm within 3hrs drive from Anamosa, IA. I go there once in a while to get things. I've had good experience including tire purchases. But admit, I haven't had any issues that involved a customer service rep on a return or defect.

J&P is owned by Motorsports Aftermarket Group (MAG) who also own Motorcycle Superstore. The two giants are strategically aligned (J&P on street bikes & cruisers, and MotoSuperstore on off-road and racing).

Given your experience, the following article is laughable.

I'm glad it worked out for you.

The really stupid part is with Shinko standing up like that JP could have easily played middle man and fixed this for you.

JP has to sell enough stuff to know which manufacturers they could easily work with on something like this.
