Sort of Freedom True Duals Question 1 Year ago
Trying to figure out an exhaust setup.

I have a set of V&H Monster Ovals from a HD Road King that I bought for my RSV that are in mint condition that I would like to use on the RS with a little fab work for mounting brackets.

Seeing that they have to mount as one on each side, I am hoping if anyone knows the OD of the header pipes of the Freedom True Dual Exhaust and if they will sell just the header pipes. The Monster Ovals will slip on 2" OD. There is no info on their site on this.

On the Bassani website, they state that their headers are only 1 3/4" so they won't work.

If Freedom headers won't work or not available for purchase separately, any other ideas to make this work?

I have the Freedom True Duals and my guess is you will never get them to sell you just the header pipes. They are not at all customer friendly. I am only 5 miles from their corporate headquarters and tried to see if I could get a better price if I just picked them up at their office without a shipping cost....they told me that they go through a distributor and there was no way I could get the pipes for anything other than what was showing as MSRP on their website...I got them for almost $400 off from someone that sells a lot of RS parts!

I tried to measure the header pipe at the exhaust slip-on point but the shield was in the way and not sure if I got the caliper on the biggest part of the pipe due to the shield...what I did measure was 1.75"

Freedom head pipes are 1.75", as are 90% of after market pipes out there. Your best option is to either use shims like Shores mentioned, or take them down to your local exhaust shop and get them to put the head pipe on their pipe flare machine. They can easily flare it out 2", the real trick will be getting your heat shields to fit back over correctly.

They sure look very cool on White Knights bike. I'd love to have that look. I saw and heard some on youtube and the sound was amazing.
I have a set of V&H Longshots that I am going to install for now until I can figure out a possible configuration for the Monsters. I will have to evaluate the costs and time involved to see if it is even worth it to me. I've got a buddy with a '96 Road KIng that wants them badly. I may just sell them to him and use the $ for other goodies.

I have Smokescreens old freedom headpipes and a set of screaming eagle cans I plan to put together in the near future. Haven't really started figuring it out yet.
