So, how big is the site...?

How much could fit on a few DVDs,(you know, using smaller fonts to save space..)
or maybe the Tech Articles and a few other key write ups.
Roadwings, 4 Gauge wires, front forks, M&G prep threads, etc.

Perhaps you could create a DVD set or something.

I'd like to think more than a few folks here would help you out with a few bucks for you for all you have done,
and to help preserve some tech and fond memories.

Absolutely, I'd buy a DVD set of the site if it was available.

On another note, for those of you who fight the mainstream and don't want to join Facebook, there is no better time to give up that fight and join it than now with the ending of this site. You could create a profile, and then just join the RSC on facebook and be done with it. That way you could at least see the post and still post questions.

Agreeed. Facebook isn't that big of a deal especially if all you want to do is check in with the Roadstar site. I have a FB account under my real name but use the same avatar pic. You won't find photos of what I had for lunch, or who I voted for, so it can be only as crazy as you want it to be. Gonna miss this place and ALL you fine people.

This is such a huge loss to the Road Star community. Maybe a fund drive to get a little more time and get someone to step up and get something going. I was part of the committee and there was a couple people far more techy than myself looking at testing servers and what not but people got busy with their lives and went on the back burner. I'm a recent member and I was so impressed with the forum, so much so that after researching this site and reading all of the various articles and info that I made an offer on the Roadstar I currently have. It did not bother me at all that I was buying a then 15 year old bike because the forum support was outstanding and in great depth.

The Clinic is so much better than most any other forum I have been on. Drama is the lowest of any active forum that I have ever seen and I have been doing forums, usenet, BBS's and IRC since before it was all pretty pictures and only text based. Facebook group is OK for what it is but it is not nearly the same as the Clinic Forum. It lacks depth, information is much harder to search for and get the relevant data that you need for your problem/project. I sort of watch the FB group, and it is a daily occurrence that people are referred over to the Clinic when someone asks a question.

The brain drain of the loss of this site will reverberate for many years to come. I just wish someone with deep pockets could step forward but I know how much time and energy it takes and that it would be a big undertaking so it is not just the money. I also understand why Gram has to take this step in life. That he has kept it going this long is a testament to him and everything he has done for the community and it is not possible to thank him enough for all of the time, money and love that he has put into this site.

It will also make me strongly consider other brands when and if I buy my next bike.

Gram, I extend a sincere Thank You for hosting this site. I've meant many very nice folks at the M&G in Celina over the past four years. I DO hope some of us can continue to meet there in 2018.

I've really enjoyed this site. Thanks Gram for all you've done. I sure hope a way surfaces to keep the forum up and going.

Take care you all. Check in with me on Roadstar mods.... the rear fender kit will remain available. I'm also working on an NOS system tailor made

for the roadstar carbureted models. email is ctkog00rstar@gmail.com

Cheers all, Rick

I’m not sure what you mean about using Facebook for the site but if there’s anything I can do to help make the site remain open I’m in.

Basically everyone could keep in contact on Facebook. Post questions and things like that. Much like we do here minus the tech articles section of course, unless someone can get the articles and upload them somehow to facebook. That is beyond my skills.

Is there a monetary number out there that would keep the RSC running? I understand it will take a lot of time to do whatever it is, but if we all can contribute to keep it going that would be great. Is Gram the only person who is able to or can someone else take the torch? Too much information and great people to lose.

I think it's more than that. It's the time that is consumed keeping the site running as well.
