Most of us use 4.0 US Quarts of oil. Which equates to 3.785 Liters.
Even though the manual says to use 4.3 quarts we never do. Which would be 4.0 liters.
When changing the oil, Drain both the Engine and Sump tank. Replace drain plugs with new gaskets. Remove the seat, remove oil dipstick and add 2 quarts then put in and screw in the dipstick. start engine for about 20-30 seconds. Unscrew the sipstick and add the other 2 quarts. Screw the dipstick in and replace the seat. Go ride.
As for the oil, the specs state that it is suitable for wet clutches so yes.
I run 20W50 in my engine for maximum protection and lubrication. If your climates is cooler than 70 degress F, 10W40 may be ok. I find that the air cooled engines need that lubrication to keep running as in traffic they can get pretty hot.

The Service manual calls for 4.3 quarts but if you do that there is an overfill problem so only put 4 quarts in. Make REAL SURE that you get oil for "V-Twin Motorcycles" even if it is synthetic. There are two plug one in the front in the crank case and the other in the right side below the side cove under the oil tank. Don't bother using the dip stick to check it never reads the same two time in a row and if you top it off you can over full it real easy. When filling put two quarts in the dipstick tube then crank the bike up for about 15 -20 seconds but make sure you dip stick is in and tight or you will get a oil bath. Then put the other two quarts in and put the dip stick in. If it isn't smoking or leaking oil then it doesn't need the oil check until the next oil change and just do the 4 quart thing again. Oil changes run from 3000 miles with regular oil to 5000 miles with synthetic oil. AGAIN make sue it is V-Twin Motorcycle oil for wet clutches as the engine oil also bathes the clutch plates. I sent you something in a message. BTW I was station at Bentwater/Woodbridge air bases near Ipswitch for 3 1/2 years.

By API and JASO ratings, that should be a good oil. They offer a V-Twin formula in mineral base, but it is API SL, which likely does not have enough ZZDP for your engine, SF, SJ, and SH oils are the API ratings on your selected oil, and being motorcycle specific, it is also JASO-MA2.

what size are the gaskets for the oil plugs. I didn't think to replace them last year, probably should this year.
