1.) Do NOT be tempted to turn the idle way down to get that loping potato potato sound. For proper head oiling at hot idle, carb operation, and stator charging, your idle should be around 900 rpm. I post this because I was "that guy", and the members here have taught me many things, grasshopper. What 900 RPM Sounds Like
2.) Don't forget to get off the bike every now and then. Surprisingly, not everyone in your life (boss, wife, friends without bikes) will understand your need to "just keep riding a little more".

Also, the seat can become difficult to remove after a while, be sure to cheek the mounting bolts for the latch under the seat. They can become loose and it makes it near impossible to remove the seat.
Ain't that the truth. I was convinced that my locking mechanism was jammed or broken. After reading every thread related to getting the seat off, I was going nowhere. Key turned left, the front of the seat moved like it wanted to come but nothing.
Finally surrendered and paid for an oil change, so they'd have to get the seat off. Mechanic found those bolts loose and now that they're tightened, the seat comes off like a dream. Good tip!

You can also take the seat lock out and drill a small hole in it and put a wire leading out as an emergency opening device, I will take a pic later

I've read about that mod before, but couldn't make sense of it when looking at from outside a stuck seat. Looking forward to a couple pics when you get the chance.

Check your tire pressure (40 rear 38 front) and CHECK THE TIRE WEAR. If the tire is over 7 years old, it's junk. If it's AT the wear bars, it's junk. If there are anycracks in the sidewall, it's junk. If it's a Dunlop 404 it's junk. If it's an original fitment ANYTHING it's junk.
Hey JD, have you always run your tires at those pressures? I know my Manual says 36 front, 36 rear unless two up, then 40. I'm tired of changing the tire pressure every Saturday morning for the weekend rides with the wife, then back to 36 on Sunday night for a week of commuting. The short straight valve stems on my tubes were a real PITA to air up and air down, so when I put new tires on yesterday, I put new tubes with 90* stems on them........ nice! Do you get even wear patterns on your tread with pressures like that?

I used some wire trace from the fishing box that would never see a fish near it and the crimps and when done it looks like this, makes it easy to remove the seat if the key won't
