This thread is full of great info - it should be mentioned to newbs in their welcome thread. And possibly moved to on of the technical areas. General/Bike-Talk isn't an area I'd go looking for tech info..

If we're single can we pick up hookers? Just askin.....

Only if you first ask them if they are a cop or a snitch! Yah, that's the ticket!

Around here the hot ones are the cops lol.

or they're the ones with teeth...

1. The 99 - 03 R* have a transmission recall out. It is a safety recall and Yamaha will repair the problem at no cost you. A cir-clip in the trans can come loose and lock the trans up. The engine has to be torn down to fix it. Contact any dealer local to you and give them the VIN number and they can check the database and tell you if the recall has been done. If it hasn't been done then have them do it. You don't have to be the original owner. Any question just open a new thread and we will give you more information.

Actually, call Yamaha directly. For parallel or grey imports, your local dealers will NOT have the information on hand and for these bikes Yamaha never contacted the owners - even if they were the original owners! I called a local dealer a couple of weeks ago (shortly after reading about this issue) and was told it was all done.
Today I called Yamaha UK and was told the recall hasn't been done yet for this bike. (I'm in the UK, bike was originally for Finland(?!), but was sold new and first registered here in the UK).

The UK number for Yamaha is 01932 358000. Give them the VIN, they can look it up, and give you a list of local dealers.

And now the fun begins for ya mate...Don't know about the UK, but here in the US the competency of the wrenches at the dealers vary considerably so try to pick a good one......
