Which puts us back to there are no absolutes in carburetion.
With your hypercharger I'm not surprised your running a 175 main.
Add to that you moved to the 5th clip, which also makes your main
richer off the mark...I've been here almost 11 years things change and
we learn from them. Don't like removing the bottom of the carb on the
bike, top not so much. The slight change will either work or it won't. I
also switch out my iridium plugs that have been in for 6 years for some
Nology silver plugs cross rated to the stock plugs. Why? Why not. Working
great by the way. most of my driving is out...freeway speeds.

I missed the tach question.
I use one of the EZTachs to set the idle on my bikes. You can get them for about $50. It's an induction tach, that clamps on the front plug wire. Look on eBay.
I have a Yin Tang or something like that, on my Springer. I'm pretty happy with it. It was on the bike when I bought it used. Curt always said they were the same exact thing, as the Barons.

Thanks. trying to insure my idle is proper, though I've been known to potato potato it just to show off

As long as you're not experiencing any of the rich running issues, then you know what they say, if it ain't broke...

BTW- That's a damn good looking bike you got there.

Two pictures...two bikes ? A 99 and a 06 ? when it gets hot here...it gets hot and dry.
My mileage tells me I'm getting close. With the temp and low humidity here think I'd rather be a
hair rich.
