Pastornj, if you can provide me info about the bulb, such as who makes it and model number, I will see what I can find. PIAA is not very forthcoming with info about their bulbs.
Same story with the HD Daymaker stuff, I suspected that the JW Speaker unit was the exact same. I will update with new data. I wish there was a way I could make the graphic images bigger for you guys, but the post limits to 499 pixels wide.
It's tough to get everything to be apples to apples comparisons. Some manufacturers list Raw lumen output, while others list Effective lumen. I would prefer to list everything with Effective lumens, but that info is super hard to find. Everyone likes listing Raw because its a bigger number. Just like stereo equipment, everyone lists Peak power output instead of RMS.

There are three ways of doing things. The right way, the wrong way, and then there is the Norwegian way.

Also, it would be interesting to see how some of the "off-road" halogen bulbs compare in lumens and power draw.
I'm currently running a "off-road" 100/140 watt H4 bulb in one of the newer clear glass housings, after switching out from a 90/130 watt setup in the stock Yamaha housing. Riding with guys with the JW Speaker LEDs we've noticed that their low beam spreads wider but doesn't reach quite as far as mine and my high beam totally outperforms theirs. I do use a ceramic plug extension and have no overheating issues.

I was wondering about those....
are you still using the factory wiring?
think you can get them from candlepower.com

Actually, if anyone wants a specific bulb added, please PM me and I will do my best. Send me the manufacturer and the bulb model and I will dig up whatever info I can find.

I'll see what I can find - I bought the bulbs through an international seller - never had problems with law enforcement or anything because I keep my headlight focused correctly. I'll be on the road this afternoon but will see what I can get for you.

Yes, but there are newer versions of the Daymaker as well - I'm not sure which version is represented in the charts above.
NJ
Yes there is the old JW and newer one which is much superior. The newer one has two side lenses on each side of the main lens vs one on the old.

Yeap, I will update with both headlight models when I have time.

I should pick up a Lux meter and do my own testing. I wonder if I could get manufacturers to send me bulbs to test.

That is actually a great idea!
Most of the info out there is outdated or somewhat inaccurate. An unbiased test with published results would be great!
