i have 2003 roadstar Silverado 1600 and it hesitates when starting. turn key and wait a sec for fuel pump to pressurize then hit the start button. it will turn over once then stop. after I do this a couple times she finally starts. this is everytime I start even after its warmed up. bought a brand new battery with 310CCA and it stays on tender over night. any suggestions?

I make and sell upgraded battery cables to help fix this issue They are 4ga cable instead of the 6ga cable from the factory. An 03 may very well be ready for a set due to high resistance in the 03OEM cables. Very common issue and very common fix. Also might want to remove the rear plate on the starter and clean out all the crap/carbon dust that you will find in there along with cleaning up the commutator nice and shiny, I'm sure it is black right now and also causing a resistance issue. Let me know if you want a new set of cables I have a couple sets made and ready to ship. $45 shipped in the U.S outside the U.S. will be added shipping.

Does it start OK once it is warmed up? What weight oil are you using and what is the outside temperature? Mine did that with 20-50. Changed to 10-40 and now starts great. Colder weather is coming, may want to use lighter weight oil.

This is what my bike was doing when I found the starter brushes broken at the 90deg bend inside, Eventually mine stopped working completely so I replaced it and took the old one apart to inspect and that is when I found the problem. Ps I also bought my bike used and started with battery replacement that didn't change anything. Good luck, see thread "where do we get replacement starters" for possible brush replacement parts, I did not repair mine yet as the chrome one clearly makes the bike so much faster, ha.

I could, I have the measurements for them and would just have to make a set.
