Is there a circuit / relay / or whatever on the Roadie that kills power to the fuel pump after a few seconds if you turn the key on but don't start the bike? I believe it builds up to a certain pressure and cuts itself off, probably some kind of pressure regulator built into the pump itself, Just my guess.......The problem I had with mine tough was when I left the fuel line disconnected from the carb and turned the key on to see it was purging out,(I thought it would keep pumping fuel) I found then I may be wrong, becouse it would run a few seconds and then shut off. Admin Posts: 4797 Re:Fuel pump power 10 Years ago   Not positive on any of this, but... I believe power is always on to the fuel pump when the key is turned on. I think the fuel pump has an internal cutoff circuit that stops the pump when the pressure is correct (about 3.5 psi). When I pulled the fuel line off the carb it would still run for a couple of seconds and shut off, it pushed fuel out fine until it shut off, wierd wierd wierd I put it back in the stock position and rode over 100 miles this weekend and everything is fine, i'm going to leave it like it is now........until I get bored then who knows what will get taken apart and modified.   Logged     Sold to BamaRoadStar   The administrator has disabled public write access. #65127 RoadstarB (User) Take off work and RIDE, You can work anytime. I'm just trying to help someone out. He is having issue with his pump. It isn't the pressure switch. If he turns his key on but doesn't start the bike the power to the pump cuts off after 6 seconds. Did it three times in a row. I think his pump is hatched. I don't think it's anything to do with the electronics in the bike. Ok, I'm gonna step out on a limb here, but the pump may also have a duration limit switch, in case of the fuel line breaking or coming loose, that way it would not empty the gas tank all over..   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access.
