So when did they change how the lights operate? On my '08 the lamps don't come on with the key until the engine is running.
My 07 is the same. I thought all factory installed lights were wired the same.
To the best of what I've figured out, the change came with the 04 models when they changed ignition modules for the 1700's. The "signal" voltage to turn the passing lights on comes from it after the engine is running.

The lights are factory passing lights came pre installed. Will work when key is turned on just like the headlight doesn’t need to be running. Tried to trace them back have to look again whole lot of wires in their thanks. it’s a 2005 ttp://roadstarclinic.com/images/fbfiles/images/488FE4AC_A455_42F1_869C_D1C77.jpeg[/img]then all the wire is stuffed in the light bucket. Check the fuse in the light bucket

No fuse in the light bucket on a 2005. At least I don’t see one still can’t figure out why they won’t work.

If that is the case then his 05 should have to be running before they come on. The only way they would come on without the bike running is if someone has gone into the wiring and rewired something.

Nope it came from the factory like that bought it new and the lights would always come on without the engine on.

Thats odd. I wonder if the aux lights are actually factory installed or if they are a factory supplied light that is actually installed at the dealer during dealer assembly?Either way I hope you find the issue. The only thing I have ever heard or seen go wrong is a bulb go bad or the switch go bad or break and then blow a fuse.

It sounds like the only way to get to the root of this is to just get in there with a meter and trace the wires. Find out where there's power and where there isn't.
