I used a putty knife and sharpened the blade a lil better than when it comes new... taped off around the area, and sprayed gasket remover... and it all came off fairly easy... make sure to tape off the paint on the engine if you use the gasket remover spray... it will take off yer paint... dont ask how I know this ... I just do

What product did you guys use? All i could find was some tom stuff from Permatex that didn't do a thing. Seems to be made more for form a gasket stuff, doesn't do much to the paper gasket that I have stuck on there. I was planning on this being a single day job but now am stuck with the case cover off and some almost the entire gasket stuck to the case. There was a small portion of gasket (about the size of your pinkie nail) stroll on the case cover, but the rest of it stayed on the case.

Any suggestions?

I used a single sided razor blade. It literately took me 2 weeks to get that crap off. I took it slow cause I did not want to damage the aluminum.

I bought a set of 3 wood chisels to use as gasket scrapers and the smallest one is about 1/4 in wide. Maybe something like that would help.

I used acetone to soften the gasket and a wood and plastic scraper to get it off. Sometimes I would have to rub it with an acetone soaked rag to get it going.

when the scraper and gasket remover only did so little , I used a dremel tool fitted with a non-metal abrasive wheel brush. Sorry, I forget what its called, but it looks like wooly pad. I had to use quite a few, but it worked good. Dremel sells them packaged with an assortment, but you can only use the soft to mild ones.

I think you are talking about a Roloc pad. If so that is the best gasket remover you can get as long as you have room to get to the gasket area unobstructed.
