Thanks SKWEARpeg for the advise on the needle. That makes sense since the mileage went down over time. Sounds like gradual decay to me.

To answer Shores question they only had BAC's when I bought this 2001 new. $150 for the BAC plus costs for a re-jet kit. I think the K&N I bought was $25. Plus the 3m goop I think $3.50 way cheaper and I am still using it till this day. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

He isn't talking about a BAK. He is talking about a K/N replacement filter that replaces and installs in the stock air box.

Yes, I'm talking about this, not a BAK. Goes inside the stock box and doesn't require re-jetting.

So I am guessing I need a needle set and a main nozzle?

Start with what you need. Do the needle and seat(float valve), and while your in there, check the jetting to make sure its stock. Write down everything that's stamped on the jets, not just the size. A magnifying glass helps a lot.

No, that would be the needle and seat. It comes as a set, with a new oring on the seat half of the float valve.
I'm not really sure what your talking about, when you say main nozzle.

Yea I got that but these were not available at the time I made the filter for my scoot. When I if ever need to replace my "home made" filter I will surely invest in one of those. BTW just picked up my needle set today and hopefully replace it Sunday after I finish cleaning up after Irma destroyed a bunch of crap at my place. We got hit pretty hard here in Brevard County. Just wanted to have no misunderstandings.

Well mileage is now back to normal. 43 when running slow and 39 when i get down the road. Thanks for the advise on the fix. Only took me three try's until I got iy not to leak. Float bowl gasket issues which I resolved. Thanks again SKWEARpeg....

Re:gas mileage getting worse 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I’m glad that fixed it. It’s usually the oring on the seat, that starts letting fuel past. Once it starts leaking, it can get bad to the point of the bike not even running in pretty short order.

Was it the little bitty oring on the flange, the one that seals the accel pump, that mysteriously disappeared? They have a habit of doing that.
