Here's a link to a site concerning this. One thing I can tell you for sure it does not get hot because of the technology.

This is the kind of rectum-fryer the warrior uses.

This site explains it and is very interesting. I believe the warrior uses this type of R/R. Yea and it does fit with a wire mod. I will see how long the battery last as a result of the switch.

Re:Stator/Regulator Replacement 9 Months ago
Went on a 350 mile trip from Space Coast to Broward County. 95 south down and 441 to 192 return. Bile ran great and the lowest mileage I got was 41 mpg on interstate and 43 on 441. The run on 441 was great. Hardly any traffic and run around Lake Okeechobee was fun. So far so good. BTW I am running iridium plugs.

Went to start the scoot this morning and could not turn it over. The battery did not have enough power to turn it over. Had been running good and getting good mileage. No time yet to troubleshoot. Maybe just a bad battery. We will see.

I just installed the Yamaha MOSFET on my SV650. 30 bucks on Ebay. Works like a champ. If you are going to try one out, beware of shopping by bike. Yamaha has pretty much standardized on a single unit. The easiest way to tell stock units apart is an old style shunt type has the part number beginning with SH. OK, not exactly old style, it could be a vibrator shunt instead of a solid state shunt!
The Yamaha MOSFET R/R I used is p/n 1D7-81960-01. The manufacturers part number is FH012AA. The FH part numbers are all MOSFET. Research the part's application and make sure your stator output is within the output of the OEM stator of the donor model. A quick plug kit installation and there ya go, more reliable (due to cooler running) regulator/rectifier. I purchased this unit for 30 bucks. Just like a sore Willy, you just can't beat it.

Well it turns out that my starter relay is bad. Getting the ghost start with key off etc. Who makes a good quality aftermarket relay? Thanks in advance for your help.

There is no good aftermarket relay purpose built. You can use the Warrior relay (it is pinned different, so requires some work) or use the Ford relay and mount it under the seat. I have a 310cca battery and the cable upgrade, and I don't have issues.
