I can answer that. R* motors, stock, are incredibly understressed. The main concern was no doubt with the valve springs, I'm bettin'.

When you mod it like you have, you're only taking all the understressed components and really putting them to work, and you, no doubt, have the valve springs to handle the r's.

The only possible issue might arise when, if any don't know this, as r's rise, the forces being generated among the reciprocating parts rises exponentially... so, not knowing where the engineering limits are with the rest of the stock components left inside, you may, or you may not, be putting its life in danger.

Talking to pros at Patrick, I'll bet they'd be glad to answer the question, and tell you where they first discovered weakness, and at what level they'd turned up the wick to hit that limit. My guess would be, that they'd say... 108 cubes, at 5,500? Don't sweat a thing! And they tell you what started breaking, when they started doing X, Y or Z. Give 'em a call. Might be the biggest mind-easer... or, stressor, of your day.

It's always nice to hear when someone has riden many bikes, with a good depth of bike-owning experience, and loves their R* . It tells me I'm not just biased about mine.

I could post up about as many bikes,.. been riding ever since my neighbor let me ride his mini-bike back in 1968 at the impressionable age of only 6 years old, I was HOOKED!!

Then I began riding dirt bikes, and my first street bike was a '68 Honda 350, then a '85 Honda 450, '84 Suzuki 450E, '85 Suzuki GS550e, '77 Kawasaki KZ650, '78 Kawazaki Z1R1000, '86 Honda 750 Sabre, '01 Honda Ace 1100, '95 Kawi Vulcan 1500,..... then finally two roadstars!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the roadstars are perfect bikes,.. and maybe it's partly my age that the roadstar is suiting me just dandy.

I also was not specifically looking for a roadstar but ran across it and thought damn that's a well-balanced looking cruiser. I could see it would make a good bobber too if I ever decided on doing that which I would do but the wifey still likes to ride with me once in a while. I should have hung on to my first roadstar and bobbered it, kept as a second bike, but I didn't.

Yeah as the years went on I got impressed when a rice burner would go by and I couldn't tell whether it was a Harley product or a competitor. I've been looking at Victory's for a number of years myself and put a mental focus on it as my next bike. A friend of mine up on Oregon was a dealer for an American made cruiser that used Korean motors and they were pretty good looking bikes.

But I too want to bob my bike, or at least make it a single seater, but we too ride 2-up most of the time and frankly I really like using the bags on even shorter rides. Always room for extra water, tools, camera gear, my girl's purse, tie downs, towels, and other goodies that are good to store or have along on any ride.

Someone posted a bobber in Louisiana for sale here recently and that's probably what I'll have to go to if I want to enjoy a dedicated solo ride (two bikes).

Yeah I like the Victory bikes. A few of them look like cruisers possessed by a drag bike. very cool look! I also like several of the new Indians....... but can't afford either one so I just dream... and then I get on my roadstar, go riding, and can't remember why I really need something else.

You might be able to work something out that's not too much of a pain to switch over from solo to 2-up to keep it at one bike. What I do works pretty good for me. All I have to do is slap on the rear floorboards, backseat & sissy bar, and I'm ready for short 2-up rides (wife sometimes throws on a backpack). I only throw on the saddle bags if it's a full day trip or more. I love the solo riding position I have now with the backrest Warden helped me make.

Honestly if I went bobber now that I'm used to some lumbar support... I'd probably have backaches and only be able to use it as a "barhopper" which would be alright too!!

After first starting out in the MC world with a minibike, that kinda morphed into a small bike with a Harley Z90 engine transplant, my first legal bike was a 1974 Honda MT250 that lived in the stable for years. Then there was the '84 XR350r, what a friggin mistake that one was, always blowing up. Ended up on a 1980 XR500 that I drove until eventually the crank crapped out. There was a 76 CB360, Kawasaki GT380, CT175, DT250, and a Yamaha dirk bike that had a metal vacuum cleaner hose for an exhaust pipe. The one I owned the longest so far was my '99 Intruder 1400.
My sister was shopping for a camp trailer and I went with her to help check it out. Got into a conversation with the guy and found he had 2 bikes for sale. Saw the R* and fell in love. Didn't expect to find it but darn glad I did.
