100 mile shakedown 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Done a few mods since I last rode. Only 85 degrees @ 10am this morning so I thought I would see how the new changes worked out. I have my new Strat footboards, my Beach bars that I got about a year ago, and just now got around to putting on, and I removed my chrome upper and lower belt shrouds (for sale). So I took a ride to Gila Bend, about 50 miles south of me, for lunch at Little Italy (had a craving for eggplant parmigiana).

Quite pleased with everything. The Beach bars were great, easier on my back than the stock bars, and much more aesthetically pleasing. The Strat boards were the big improvement...with my stock boards, at 80 mph they would try to shake my feet right off of them. These are smooth like butter. Could have something to do with the way I mounted them too. I ditched the pin, circlip and spring and went with grade 8 bolts, double nutted. I put just enough tension on them so I can still fold them up, or they can fold up on their own if I drag them. That's how they were on my Panhead and I never had any problems with it. If your footboards shake like hell at high speed, you can try this for a couple of bucks, it just might help. Ace hardware had everything I needed.

Didn't feel any difference from losing the belt guards, didn't really expect to. I just like the raw look without them. Wish I could do the naked pulley but it's too rich for my blood unless I can find a used set-up cheap. Still got some fine tuning to do on control positioning and the like, but otherwise done, done and done.

I must have tried 30 times or more with photobucket to post pics. Believe me, I would love nothing more than to be able to post pics and video. Friday night music would be vastly improved, for one thing. And, I could be even more obnoxious and annoying than i already am with some "visual aid".

Do you have a photobucket account right now? If so, do you have pictures loaded to your photobucket account?

If you didn't live over 2000 miles away, I would ride over and show you how to do it

I still might show up one day down there. We have tentative plans for an out west trip
