Kickstand drags too easily 4 Years, 5 Months ago
There is no joy in turning left...kickstand is touching down way too early. My bike is the stock ride heigth (sic). I crawled down there to have a look-see. Even bought a new spring beforehand, thinking for sure that was the problem. I don't think so anymore. Everything seems to be working correctly. There's a little rubber bumper down there by the horn (2006 Road star) but my kickstand is a good 1/2" from touching it. Kickstand does not appear to be bent, it's a beefy mofo. My new Clymer manual was no help, so I turn to you , fellow clinicians (!?) for assistance. Is there some way to get it to retract to that bumper? I'm really hoping this is not one of those "that's just the way it is" deals. I'm no Ricky Racer type who rides extreme lean angles, I just want to make what I consider a normal left turn without my sphincter trying to engulf the seat everytime that scraping starts. Any suggestions?

hmmm. that kickstand is suppose to go right to the bumper and hold tight. is it binding or can you push it against that bumper??

Your kickstand must not be going all the way up your floorboards should drag before your kickstand maybe the spring is weak.

Don't know that anyone's ever dragged a kickstand and spoke of it here before... I'd definitely check to see if it was going all the up way to its frame stop rubber bumper.

Put it on a bike jack or get a friend to hold it straight up while you put the stand up and push on it to see where it is binding up. You may have some trash in the pivot point that is keeping it from going up or the kill switch on the kickstand may be stuck.
