I agree getting the seat off these things can be a real pain, I found it is mostley getting the feel of the key, and keeping the latch lubed, I change seats a lot cause I use my Corbin for solo rides, and my stock seat ( wich sucks ) for two up, Moma says the Corbin is ok on a short ride, but those two hundred milers arn't HMMMM fine for me heh heh heh, so I got it down to a first time every time thing at this point

Are you thinking about the cable mod talked about in the past threads? The only problem I've had with by '07 is the seat latch. Seat got stuck on then had the latch rere you thinking about the cable mod talked about in the past threads? The only problem I've had with by '07 is the seat latch. Seat got stuck on then had the latch re[placed under warranty. But it's a little on the ceapo side. I'm planning on doing the cable release mod myself. BOL

Hi all. I'm new to the clinic and my 2006 Road Star. Had a hell of a time getting the seat off but thanks to the tech tips I finally did it. Pushing down on the front of the seat with my knee did the trick. So I started hosing down the latch mechanism w/ lube. I was using a screwdriver to kinda wiggle the latch around so the lube could get in there real good. I pushed forward on the hook part of the latch and it rotated forward....way forward. Now I can't get it back to the open position to get the seat back on. Admittedly, my key is a little wonky, even to start the bike I have to wiggle it a little. The bike has 50K miles on it. And in all the excitement of finally getting the seat off I can't remember how far I had the key turned to the left. Does it turn all the way to the left, or just part of the way? When I push down (and wiggle a little) it turns all the way to the left. But I know pushing down locks it. When I don't push down, even with the seat removed, and turn to the left, the key does not go very far and has a taunt, springy feel to it. I don't wanna force it 'cause I've broken a key off before and it really sucks to do that. I got a good deal on this bike on Ebay but that also means I bought it sight unseen, so I was not able to check things out before I got it. So can anyone tell me the specifics on the key / lock deal? I read in one thread about putting a wire tie on it for a manual pull. How big a tie, and where? I love this bike. My last bike was a Victory, and though it was a good bit faster, this bike does everything else better. Thanks to the forum in advance for any help.

You tagged onto a 4 year old thread.
Don't push down on the key, just turn it to the left, and you will feel spring tension, and then push odwn and wiggle the front of the seat, and it should pop up...unless.

heypobasturd--nice name by the way---if you push down on the key and turn it all the way to the left--if your steering is all the way left it will lock your steering---good anti theft built in--the springy feeling you get when not pushing down is the seat release--I always have to push down on the front of my seat to have it release---but mine is a "99. Hey ride hard but safe and enjoy your new ride---any questions just ask here on this forum---someone will chime in--lots of people here know the Roadie like the back of their hand
