Smoke on overrun cured. 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
When I picked my bike up a few years back, the seller said there was oil smoke when you blipped the throttle after slowing down.....'needs new piston rings' said he!
I thought 'no, that'll be smoke on acceleration, just on overrun is valve stem seals, fairly easy fix'.
Lived with it for a while then recently thought I should look into it.....seals are not easy to get and, at £10 each plus gaskets makes for over £100 of bits!

I read online about the upper crankcase breather causing carb problems so took off air cleaner and re-routed underneath (with a loop in the tube so any oil gathered can be sucked back in to crank).

The result............BIKE FIXED, no smoke! So impressed was I that I fitted the less restrictive mufflers in the V&H pipes and now, even better, it pulls smoother.

When someone suggests a Roadstar has wear to the point of burning oil I usually doubt them unless they never changed their oil, or the first digit on their odometer is way over on the left side of the display.
Glad you found the simple fix!

Make sure you only put 4 quarts of oil in the engine. No more or the engine will just push it out.
