If you have the extended aftermarket PMS screw with the knurled end (Maxair or Barons) you can cut a piece of fuel hose about a foot long and force it onto the end. Route it under the airbox toward the front of the bike and you can adjust the PMS just like you do the idle. Be sure to use a hose size that you have to force on so it doesn't slip.

A tip that I've used from here for a long time is when you print out an instruction from the tech section, put it in a plastic sleeve so it don't get greasy and wrinkled. I print both sides so I also save on paper.

You can also mark on the plastic sleeve with grease pencil, (notes, checking off items as you perform them, etc.), and then erase them later.

2 Things....if you are tackling a job for the first time, ask. Someone, more likely several guys, on here have been there and done that and are more than willing to share the knowledge.
and get a service manual.

Don't be afraid to jump in and perform work or take on a project. It will build confidence!

Make sure you do your research here and in the Service Manual first and have the necessary documentation nearby.

When you work on a certain area of the bike, determine what other maintenance you can do there while the parts are off.

Always allot twice as much time as you may think to do the job. That way, if you're done quickly, you can go for a test ride!

you need to tighten the front bolts first, then do the rear to 21ft.lbs. You should have a gap at the rear of the holder.
Hope this helps.

OK I think this is the right place to ask this... This is my first attempt at a what I consider a major mod, I'm looking to install apes on my 01 R*, looking for some help on what I need to think about before I start. I have the stock bar and Pro-One's 4" risers and want to drop 12" apes in them. I know I need longer cables/wires but how long? I want to run the electricals internally. I've seen some tips but nothing all encompassing yet. Any help is appreciated.
