Not to ignore your questions, however, this particular topic is for tech hints.
I recommend that you go to the tech forum and start a new topic for your questions. That way, you can track the responses and they will be related to your questions.
Thanks, Ratl.

Some days you\'re the bug. Some days, you\'re the windshield.

Duck tape in your bag it's handy for anything that may happen on a trip.
1. Tape broken lens
2. Saddle bag repair
3. you name it
This is for trips you just never know what can happen and I found it to be very useful !
A bike air gauge that you know will work on the front tire
Research tech tips but also search the forum afterwards. You never know what someone else might have figured out and save you sometime. Do your homework before you dig in. I know that will be a tough one, but most of this stuff comes from someone digging in and figuring it out.

Have a magnetic extension, to pick up screws, nuts and bolts that will find their way to the most hard to get part on your bike!!!! that may be funny...but its gonna happen
if your afraid that your gonna ding your bike, take a ball peen hammer and hit it where no one can see it...then forget about it...

Apply a penetrating oil on your bolts, nuts, screws and all affected hardware the night before begining a project or mod.

When adding an engine guard to your bike, get some rubber washers at Home Depot, Lowe's or your local hardware store that fit over the fasteners. Use them by sandwiching each metal washer to allow sleight movement of the guard to prevent cracks by hard mounting the guard.
You will not feel any vibration, but will protect your bars from cracking.
