BUMP.

1) If at all possible, start the project in the morning so that you have all day to run get those (screws, nuts, washers, tools, tubing) you forgot or suddenly found that you needed. And on a Saturday too. You have Sunday to wrap up if it runs long, or ride if it doesn't.

2) Plan your projects ahead of time. Write down a list and see how many need to be done before the others. Don't put parts back on and then realize the next project needed them off anyway.

3) Take breaks from the work. Stand up, stretch, walk away for a few minutes.

4) Have a 'thinking chair' if room allows. A stool or old chair to sit back and look at the bike, read the manual or just ask yourself if there's something else to be done. Also, at the end of the work, it's where you can sit and sip a beverage and admire your bike. Again.

5) Has been stated already, but clean the work area BEFORE you start work. Nothing worse than finding an extra bolt when you're done, except tearing back into the bike and then finding the bolt was left over from another project, not this one

(1) When changing gear oil , sometimes you need to tap that big chrome refill plug pretty hard to get it to brake lose .Cover with rag before tapping . (2) 2 quarts oil , (crank 30 seconds)2 more quarts . (3)Talk sweet to her and take care of her and she will give you many good rides

Gonna re-jet soon so rather than put the tank on and off I was going to get a tank from Summit Racing for $18 + shipping (or Ebay for ?)Instead I got a plastic tank from a lawnmower/weedwhacker/ or from some similar source, mount it (to a pole in my case) to initially tune the carb. Cheap and simple. A spigot can easily be added in line also.

I use a folding table to set all my parts on including the gas tank when working on the bike. I set a 2x4 flat under the front of the tank to raise the petcock from sitting on the table and just run a rubber fuel line over to the bike to run the eng. Only need about 4 feet of fuel line and a splice connector for the line.

I've got one, just found out the hard way. When removing the cover to change your fuel filter make sure you lift it up and not pull it forward or you'll break the tab. I thought it seated in the rubber housing forward. Lift it up gently cause the tab is thin.

That's a sign to go pumpless!woohoo! Oh yea I'm also filterless!!!! There are a bunch of us without fuel pumps or filters! I put 14-16K a year on my bike and all I do is run a little seafoam about every 7k miles or if on a trip once or twice to make sure I didn't get any bad gas. haha bad gas

Erbman (Neil) has 160K miles on his roadie whithout a filter and pumpless.... That is what pushed me to do it and the fuel flow is much BETTER and no more junk on the left side of my motor!!!! Even Better!

Spend a few cents and buy a piece of 3/8th ID fuel line hose. Cut a piece about 5 inches long Slip it onto your spark plugs and use this to initially install your plugs. If you happen to cross thread, the hose just spins on the plug. Saves a ton of issues from having a cross threaded plug.

Often times the "tank rattle" isn't the bracket fitment, its the metal sleeve inside the frame, wrap it in electrical tape, re-install, SILENCE!
