I remember reading that a few yrs ago about straitening it to drill it out. I would be afraid to break it or mess it up in some other way like you said about shavings in the tank, plus I don't think there is a need.

I've done it 3 times .... twice to one tank. I probably would not do it more that 2-3 times to one tank as it will break off. The hardest part was drilling the hole straight with the small bit and not breaking the bit.

I'm not sure about the EFI bikes but on a carbed Roadstar the fuel petcock has strainers on it that would block drill shavings from ever leaving the tank. If you have a fuel filter downstream from there I can't imagine any metal shavings ever making it past both of those to your carb or engine. If you're really worried about it you could always clean the petcock strainers after doing the mod. Maybe even run a couple in-line fuel filters for a season to really trap whatever might make it past the strainers.

I popped off the hose and frankly, it made no difference. Alas patience is my nemesis. I have to wait a bit longer before I take off. IF I don't she coughs and dies. I have to wait a bit and then it starts up, wait a bit idling and then blast off.
You are right, there is enough air via the vent and the petcock as well can flow tones of fuel.
I may turn my PMS out a 1/4 turn. Its at 2 turns right now.
Not too concerned about the roll over valve - if the bike has rolled good chance I am dead.
Thanks for the comments

I Had The Same Problem With The Tank Sucking Air It Was So Bad That It Put Dents In The Tank! I Found That The Vent Line Had Got Clogged Up So I Put A Air Line To The Hose Where It Mates Up With The 90 On Top Of The Tank, ( 2k RS ) Gave It A Quick Shot And That Took Care Of The Vacuum Problem..... Just Saying!!
