The cable hangs down below with a loop and can easily located. Hide the wire so ya can't get to it unless you take the covers off, Security and reliability too. I like that Idea! I can't do much more. Keep your seat latch lubricated. And if you get into this area, install the backup release cable as mentioned and put the business end under the side cover for easy access. But if you get caught with your pants down, this tool is your easiest way out. I highly suggest an old CB antenna as it is very stiff and springy - perfect for the job. They are SS. Anyway... It's always been hard to unlatch unless I push down on the front of the seat directly above the latch. I just push down on the front tip of the seat with my right fist and turn the key with my left hand. I think I will install one just in case. Got the cable and stuff from H. Depot waiting for the time to do it. I had the opposite problem on my '07 though right after I bought it. My seat would not latch down. Turned out the latch mech was cracked. Senior Boarder Posts: 396 Re:Seat Latch Tool. 8 Years ago   Having been a Locksmith for 18 yrs, I've made many lockout tools. Good job on this one. Most lockout tools are very stiff so a ordinary metal coat hanger usually will not due. I've used 1/8" non-flux coated welding rod to make many of my tools. They make your hands dirty but they work well and only break if your bend them too tight. An auxillary release is a great idea and very simple. You can get a replacement lawn mower throttle cable and braket for under $10. AS USUAL, another mod on my "to-do" list. BTW, I invented a tool to open the Mercedes S class vehicles without damage in 1994. Up to that time, locksmiths around the world had damaged about 12 cars totalling dealer repairs of over $30,000.00 to their insurance claims .
