Need help on HSR-42 1 Month, 1 Week ago
My wife's Fatboy has a Mikuni HSR-42 carb. When parked, it will drain the gas tank into the motor if the petcock isn't shut off. It also has a high idle after it's warmed all the way up. You can "drag" the idle down by lugging the engine with the transmission and then it idles fine. I'm thinking needle and seat replacement. What do you think?

Yep - HSR carbs shouldn't leak when off. Needle and seat need replaced.

It should also be dripping fuel from the fuel bowl overflow. There is a stand tube inside the fuel bowl that should handle any overflow and dump it onto the floor and not into the engine. It does seam that you also have a bad float needle/seat or at least one that is sticking from garbage stuck to it.

Thanks to all and to Davej for the link. I have a kit on the way. How about the high idle problem. Anyone think that's connected to this or a different problem?
