I dont know for sure why but was riding yesterday and as soon as the R* turned 10k, the enging light came on. It was flashing those codes, 68 and 24. From what I read i see that the 24 is a o2 sensor. However I have hard krome 3" pipes a power commander and all added with AIS removed. Its FI just so im sure you guys already know that. However, the dealer installed the pci3 i believe it was because it was running really lean, but this was last year, and its been running fine ever since. I do have the 02 sensors installed with the pci 3 as well. Any suggestions?

I'll say this the only way I know how. There are a TON of FI bikes here on the Clinic that are not running a PCIII and have zero issues. Personally, I've been running for nearly three years without one. And, many that were running a PCIII have pulled them off due to a list of issues. Most, if not all, are glad they did.

But, with that said. There are a handful that are successful running one and seem happy with it. More power to them.

Personally, I never saw a reason to run one. The bike runs fine without it. And, dealerships/shops aren't exactly "impartial". Some probably think they're right about the requirement to have one when you install aftermarket exhausts. Some just want to add another $500.00 to your new exhaust bill. Not to mention all of the "custom" tuning they're willing to do for you for the next year or two until it's running right again...

Hey, Rich. I think it's a preprogrammed engine light for service. His came on at 10,000, mine came on at exactly 24,000. I didn't realize that until later. For some reason I hit the tripo the moment the light came on. I subtracted back after reading this post and 24,000 on the nose.

Not sure why the OP got the O2 sensor code since he says his are hooked but regardless I think the trigger is the mileage; or it's a really big coincidence.

Now, to get it to turn off. Unhooking the battery doesn't do it; even for a long period of time.

To the OP: are your O2 sensors installed and hooked up? I was under the impression that only the PC5 could do that.

Id have to look to make sure, I may not have a pci3, i just bought it last year, if i would have known there was another way to get the backfire out(but i took off the ais)that stopped it all, and rich it up a little, they said it was running really lean. Thats why I got the pci. Either way I will check it out. I had been feeling a bit of a hesistation if i was say in 3rd and or any other gear but 5th and just hold it out a little. The o2 sensors may not be connected though. Ill check and see for sure.

I know what you're talking about with the hesitation. I think the the flat spots are inherent with the fuel modules. I was able to tune it out of mine by changing the transition points from the first two circuits. Mine is a different type than yours though.

Mine is running great. I just can't get the engine light to go off.

That's too funny... You think they'd use a code, other than the 02 sensor one.

I'm sure there'd have to be instructions in the Service Manual to get it to reset the light. If I can find mine, I'll check it out.

Yes, the codes are all in the service manual and how to reset each one. Some have the same reset proceedures. Some have different proceedures. But they all can be reset with the right cycle of the buttons on the handlebars. And yes 19k miles is a trigger point. I'm not at home or the shop. I don't have access to my book or laptop. I scanned it to a pdf file and have it on my laptop. It will be Tuesday before I have access to them. Send me a PM to remind me if ya haven't gotten the info by then. Ok. And I will look it up for ya.

I got mine fixed. I looked the codes up in the service manual. They are both O2 sensor codes, 1 & 2. The only reinstatement method is to fox the problem and let it run at idle. After putting the O2 sensors back on, AGAIN, I started it and after ab out 30 seconds the light went out.

Here is the question, if you dont have the o2 sensors connected will it not just trigger them again and start flashing the codes?
