clarks:

Good for you, brotha. Get back to riding...

1. Did you pull the neg- on the battery to reset the ECU?
2. How do you know it's running rich?

It was connnected to the negative post, I just disconnected that and reconnected. The reason that I say rich is black smoke when I rev sitting still. It seems to clear up though, it may just need to be reset again, the engine light did go off though. So right now the mods that I have on there are, K&n, and hard krome 3" stepped pipes.

And, the 02 sensors are hooked back up?

I'd reset it again. Leave the - off for a few minutes to completely discharge. I bet it clears up pretty quick.

I'm certain it will clear up. It took mine one short ride and it was good to go. You aren't going to get the shop to change your plugs are you? Get some Iridiums and anti-seize and get after it. The hardest part is removing the tank. Save the cash.

It's a 30 minute job, just so you know...

I didnt really have any trouble removing the tank and such but the maint, I have a 4 year extended warranty and i normally let the shop do the maint, because I dont know what all the checks are, or how they are supposed to be done, and if I dont take it to a yama authorized dealer, I dont know if they will honor that. I could change the oil and such normally they charge me about 150. to do it all.

Hi I am new here. I have a 2008 and just installed 3" roadburners, K&N filter, and an Electronic Jet Kit from Dobeck Performance. At about 80 she sputters a bit then surges forward, this happens continually and it makes for a bad day in the saddle. Now @ 19000 miles my check enngine light is on. I guess what I'm trying to get at is taking the electronic jet kit out of the equation won't cause any lean issues? And reset my check engine light?

Did you remove the O2 sensors? Right now the way that I have mine setup is stock with k&n, 3" pipes, not stock, I had a programmer on there but it spit and sputtered. So I put the O2 sensors back in, took off the programmer, and runs just fine without. I was hesitant about it because everyone said that it would run fine, but its true. No programmer needed, unless you want to take it and have it dyno'd. thats the only way to get a good custom map setting.

Yeah I took the O2 sensors out. Guess I'll put them back and take out the AIS.
