Wow, glad you got her sorted out. Question though. Where did you get the fault code? Did you put the bike into diag mode? If so, how, exactly, is that done? I know it was discussed earlier, but I never saw the exact procedure.

Thanks, something to be on the look out for. You would think that hose would have been protected, and lasted longer than that.

DIAGNOSTIC MODE
Setting the diagnostic mode
1. Set the main switch to “OFF” and set the engine stop switch to “*off ”.
2. Disconnect the wire harness coupler from the fuel pump.
3. Press and hold the “RESET” switch “1” and the “ up arrow ” side of the “SELECT” switch “2” turn the main
switch to “ON”, and continue to press the switches for 8 seconds or more.

NOTE:
• All displays on the meter disappear except the clock and odometer/tripmeter/fuel reserve tripmeter
displays.
• “dIAG” appears on the odometer/tripmeter/fuel reserve tripmeter LCD.
4. Simultaneously press the “up arrow ” side of the “SELECT” switch and the “RESET” switch for 2 seconds
or more to activate the diagnostic mode. The diagnostic code number “d:01” appears on the clock LCD.
5. Select the diagnostic code number corresponding to the fault code number by pressing the “SELECT” and “RESET” switches.
NOTE:
• To decrease the selected diagnostic code number, press the “ down arrow” side of the “SELECT” switch. Press the “down arrow ” side of the “SELECT” switch for 1 second or longer to automatically decrease the diagnostic code numbers.
• To increase the selected diagnostic code number, press the “up arrow ” side of the switch. Press the “up arrow ” side of the switch for 1 second or longer to automatically increase the diagnostic code numbers.

6. Verify the operation of the sensor or actuator.
• Sensor operation
The data representing the operating conditions of the sensor appears on the odometer/trip meter/fuel
reserve trip meter LCD.
• Actuator operation
Set the engine stop switch to “*on ” to operate the actuator.
NOTE: * = red kill switch on handlebar
If the engine stop switch is set to “*on”, set it to “*off”, and then set it to “*on” again.

7. Set the main switch to “OFF” to cancel the diagnostic mode.

This is directly out of the service manual, Blue Star kindly allowed us to use.

I wonder if you can change the CO level at idle like Texasscott mentioned a few days ago just in diag mode. It's pretty cool that you don't have to clip and ground wires and whatnot.

I should've guessed these had diag modes like this. My R1 (also fuel injected) has a similar set of steps to put it into diag mode

Bump...this is a fantastic old thread for any owner of a FI Roadstar. Rick, did you ever end up removing the injectors and cleaning them? Is it true the dealer can adjust the O2 at idle? Is it true that a bad battery can effect the performance of our FI bikes? FI owners unite!

The carb version also adjusts to altitude with its Vacuum operated slide.
That was the reason to make the carb with a vacuum operated slide rather than a manual operated cable slide.
