I have a 2008 and I just drilled through both. I like the sound, but if anyone wants those pipes, I bought the speedstar drags and couldn't find a buyer so I could sell the stock with stage one and you could keep your originals intact. They will just have a cut in the rear break hose bracket upon removal. $50 plus shipping.

Thanks very much I have done the stage one so far and quite pleased actually just drilled the outer plate (flat, not conical on the 2011) and drilled through those holes to get to the next plate..the sound is loud enough for me for now and if I decide I want more will go to the stage III will find out more about the cat converter prior to going further I think I will go to the ED seat have spoken to George and of course he is in Canada so the border thing is no issue for me will advise more on the seat when I get it

Hi roadiefan - glad to hear you had success on your pipe work. I have a 2009 - bought in June and am planning to do stage 1 job myself. Can you provide me a little more detail on how you went thru the rear plate so I know what to expect. My plate is flat also with a 1 1/4" diameter pipe in the center. Thank for the help.

Roadiefan - noticed you are going for the ED seat. I live in the same town as Mike and got one from him two weeks ago, with the backrest which requires you to get the rear seat. I'm 6'2", 215 lbs and this seat has changed my outlook on life. It is great. You can also ask Mike or George about putting in contrast stitching which matches your bike color. Mine is Candy Red and it looks great. Enjoy

Stuck between 1 and 3!!!!

Hi everyone,

New to this site and it has already helped me out a lot in just getting to know my bike! I need some ideas tho. Apparently on the 05 R* the weld for the exit pipe is on the inside or something cuz mine is literally stuck inside the baffle plate. It can turn a full 360 if I force it but it wont come out. Wondering a) if anyone else has this problem and b) what they did to fix it. I have blisters all over my right hand trying to gorilla it out and the pipe tips are getting pretty bad looking. Any advice would be welcome and greatly appreciated. Hope someone is still looking at this thread. THANX TO ALL!

Believe it or not, I put duct tape on the inside and the edge of the pipe tips to keep them from getting dinged up. Three or four strips thick.

I took the dual muffler off the bike. Wrapped the connecting plate in a towel and put it in a vice. Secured it with some bungi straps and started twisting with vice grips. One and half full revolutions, and it was out.

I have a 2000, and it is from the Japan market, not US/Canada. Might be different, but that's how I did it.

Love Stage 3!

Thanx for the advice Rico. Ill give it a shot. Im gonna go aftermarket (v&h 2-1) and keep the factory pipes so I can mess with them but I will give that a shot! Much apriciated.

Hi folks, I've got a 2013 R*. I'm doing stage 3. The pipes won't come out. They are broken loose from the weld. Feels like they are flanged on the end. I can spin them, push them in, but it feels like they catch when I pull.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks
