Does anybody have...? 1 Month ago
After trying so many seats, and never finding one that worked for my butt for even a half an hour... not even the Ultimate or the ED, I had this strange experience:

Last weekend, I went up to New Hampshire to ride home, about 90 miles, at least an hour and a half to 2 hours, a '99 a friend bought, and I was going to evaluate for him... it had one of those hard as rock Mustang seats with studs, and concho with tassle.

I thought the thing would likely kill me... but, I got all the way home, and got off with NO discomfort whatsoever! I was very strangely surprised, to put it mildly.

So, my question is: Does anyone have a Mustang seat for sale? Or, perhaps would like to swap?

I've got a perfect ED standard set with studs... and other seats besides, if anyone's up for a swap.

Good luck with the search QC; hopefully someone will be able to trade. If you don't find one, something to consider; I went through the same as you, tried many seats, including the ED and Mustang, etc. none worked for me. Then I picked up a used Looney seat that happened to come with a generic seat back. (see my sig photo below) It's hard as a rock but man, I can put in 12+ hour days no problem, and it gives me tons of room. It does sit me *way* low in the bike, but I prefer that over feeling like i'm "on top" of the bike. It also helps with the handling since it lowers the center of gravity considerably. It took me a few rides to get used to how low it is, but now I don't want to ride anything else. My new bike came with a nice Mustang seat with drivers back rest and studs/fringe...sounds like what you're referring to. It wasn't bad, but I definitely preferred my Looney and sold the Mustang.

I hope you find what you're looking for brother. Comfort is key to happy riding.

The seat description you are giving for the Mustang sounds just like my Corbin seat. Hard as rock wide and pretty comfortable as well. I am 6'2" and 200 and it does not bother me at all on long multi hour rides. It does put me a bit higher up than I like but it sounds identical to your Mustang. Have you tried the Corbin seat?

If you are looking for a Mustang I may have a line on one locally here. A former member has one in town here that she was selling and called me. I can give her a call if you want to see if she still has it. Let me know.

This topic came up on a Star bikes forum here a while back. Seemed everyone had their own preferences on what worked well for them. One member mentioned these beads and I thought for $14 it might be something worth trying. Not out much if it doesn't help.

Just another thought.

The mustang is like my corbin I have on my bike. I can take a picture of it but it's just a plain seat, no tassel's or concho's and all I have is the drivers seat. I don't have any back seat so I have no need for the rear. If your interested in seeing the seat I'll take some pictures.

I have a stock riders seat that I had modded at a local upholstery shop who does lots of work for our Harley dealership (among others).

The other seat I have is a ED big touring.

I flip flop between the two seats and find myself riding most of the time riding with the stock seat modded by the local shop for $90 out the door.

Just my .02 worth

YMMV

I've got that exact Mustang Seat on Ebay right now, but it's missing a couple studs on the passenger seat and has the backrest. I have the ED Big Tour now but I am not as impressed as I thought I would be. It should break in more though, or so they say. Anyway, I listed on Ebay to get more cash to buy more stuff but the thought of trying a different seat interests me a bit too..

Thanks all... I made the same request on the FB page, and I have a set of the Mustang seats coming to me out of Minnesota as a direct swap for my ED seat set. Studded, with concho, and a little fringe!

Mine went into the mail to him today!
