Sadly age is an evil we can't escape and I'm sorry it's been squeezing you. We have definitely been fortunate to have your experience here on the forum. I often think of our trip to Celina four years ago, the ride there and back was as memorable to me as the destination! We are all better for your commitment to serve.
Curt you are in my thoughts!

Curt, I can relate to you in this as I am plagued with worsening Arthritis myself. Bad knee's, back and elbow joints. Sometimes life seams pretty cruel, but as you, we both got to do a lot of things we have enjoyed, like motorcycles. I'm holding out as long as I can, but time isn't on my side. I hope as others here that you stay around as long as possible because you are definitely an asset here, and a damn nice guy. Best of luck to you.

Wishing the best for you Curt.

You are truly one of people everyone on the Road Star Clinic looks up to.

Many of us are using parts you have made better than Yamaha designed and most everyone on this message board has benefited from your technical advice.

Says it all.

You've always been generous with your help and time on this Forum. You are what this Forum has been all about since the original cadre of individuals who shared an interest in the Road Star, began it years ago. The link to your personal website, and the insight it has provided to many, has always been a great source here at RSC.
I've been working with a friend of mine here in Milton over the weekend. We are both sadly aware of our limitations now, versus even 5 years ago. I could have used a 16 year old grandson who just needed somebody to tell him what to do.

Put "Black Ice" in the Classifieds. I'm sure somebody will want to benefit from the time knowledge and effort, you put into the bike.

I hope you can get some relief for the pain, Curt. Your input on this forum has been invaluable in helping guys like me keep their bikes on the road and I can only imagine the time and detail you put into your own. Sad to see you have to give it up, but enjoy the wealth of memories you've made with it.

Curt i have been staring down the barrel of that gun too and wish it didn't happen to any of us but it will eventually to all of us. You are not alone in the stark reality of aging as we are all going to have to stop riding at some point. My goal at this point is to out live the longevity of my bikes ( but guys like you are making that difficult with all the help and advice) and still be able to ride when my bikes give out but that may bot happen as it did not with you. I hate these postings as it is a reminder to us all. You have been so very generous and helpful with your time and talents I hope that you will stay with us even though you can't ride because your knowledge is so very valuable and can not be replaced.

I am wishing you well in your health and have been including you in my prayers once in awhile since I learned about your various health issues a couple of years ago and was really hoping this wouldn't happen but again I know it will to everyone on here at some point. You have been a great friend to us on the forum and we all appreciate your service to us as your students. My bike would still be a heap in the garage and not running if it weren't for you and I am positive that many of the guys on here can say the same.

I know that your wife has struggled recently as well as you let us know some time ago and I am going to add your family to my prayers daily now and know that you have provided for us an example to follow perhaps without knowing it. Proverbs 27.17 says "You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another". You have given me the small opportunity to sharpen and I thank you so much for giving me that. You sir are a true inspiration to us all.

We all have to step off some day. I too have been looking at stepping away due to a number of non-medical issues. Mostly relating to getting myself situated for retirement. My wife can no longer ride so its hard for me to take off without her. While I do solo trips I really feel bad about it. I love building bikes and have for 40 plus years but the time is near......

good luck.

So sad to hear this. Like others have said your commitment and knowledge has made this forum an amazing place. As far as your bike goes someone will get an amazing ride. I hope you stick around.

Sorry to hear about the health issues getting to this point.
There are few people who have contributed as much or as selflessly to the community & general knowledge of our Roadstars as you.
I hope you stick around here whether you have a bike or not.

Take care!

Curt, as others have said, your in good company. I just focus on the things I am still able to do and don't fret over what I can't do anymore. I find I don't have enough hours in the day to even get to all the things I'm still able to do!

Curt, sorry to hear that. This place would have not been what it is without your help. Looks like there are a lot of us senior riders here ( me too). Do what you can, for as long as you can!
