Great score! After riding it, you may decide that you like the extra power.

I've had my Stratoliner about 6 months and I can't imagine going back to my little tiny Road Star.

Well that didn't take long....lol. Had a friend go over to look at the bike and he was impressed enough with it's condition that I bought it. New tires, brakes, battery, battery tender, riding gloves and a Giant ass Star poster to sweeten the deal.
Some guys have all the luck !
Let us know how the 'scooter runs out when you get that new drive belt installed.

Wait! I thought he said a friend bought it???
And, I scored a Strat in November of '16 for $2k, and flipped it for $3k in no time at all. I rode it for a few tanks of gas, several hundred miles, and I didn't much care for it. 1.) I thought it was too "smooth". I like a little bit of rumble and vibe. You know, like a Road Star does. 2.) It was more powerful, but for the size of that engine, I expected considerably more power than it had. But, 3.) though the Roadie was called small... I much preferred the size of my Road Stars over the larger size of the Strat. I consider my Road Stars to be right-sized for my riding.
I was thrilled to see it go! I could not have cared less about it. It was a perfectly fine bike for what it was, but... it wasn't me.
The Road Star is dead... Long live the Road Star!!!

No, what I said was a friend of mine drove over to take a look at it for me. After he gave me the thumbs on the bike I did the deal, so it's my baby now.
I've got three plans bouncing around in my cerebrum
1) Ship it up to Alaska and sell it here.
2) Drive it up in the spring and then sell it.
3) Put a belt on it, clean it up and sell it right where it's sitting.
There's Pros and Cons no matter what scenario I go with, so I wouldn't mind a little friendly advice...what would you do?

Plan 3 sounds less expensive than 1 and 2. I pick door number 3.

You might seriously consider riding it before you make any decisions. I love my Roadies but more power is more power R R R R R R R R R R For a measly grand you have a GREAT platform to work off of. Hmmm a Road Glide fairing on a Liner.

I'd say the same... get it up and going, and check it out. You just might think you landed on an opportunity of a lifetime.
When I did, I wasn't sufficiently impressed enough to keep mine... it just wasn't as much my style of bike as my Road Stars are.
I hope a belt is all it needs, and it's everything you could have hoped for! I mean, a thousand dollar Strat!!!

If I ever get a Strat I would stick a high lift cam in it with a set of duals and retro it up. A cam adds a lot of personality to a V Twin. Always wanted a Roadliner.
