It will be a serious mistake if they eliminate the Roadstar.
The Japanese need to start thinking for themselves.
Their business model for new motorcycle models is like the american CAR business model.
WRONG.
Instead of making new models, how about perfecting what they have.
Also more practical motorcycles in the smaller sizes. Stop those extreme
sport bike designs. We don't need our kids thinking they will be racing on the city streets.
We need practical motorcycles that are comfortable and can carry a second person without having the passengers A$$ way up in the air on the back of the bike.
Something to commute to school on that looks nice.
STOP making plastic transformer bikes.
Make motorcycles that look like motorcycles, NOT the plastic toys that we had when we are 8 years old.
It does not mean you cannot use modern technology.
Look how Yamaha messed up on the V MAX.
They should have kept the steel frame. Value for your money.
Lower the seat, and still keep enough fuel in a better tank design?
Thats all for now.
But get the car designers out of the motorcycle dept.

Talked to the dealer a couple weeks ago. The Road Star is gone along with the Stratoliner according to him. They are keeping the Roadliner though. I think they screwed the pooch on the Stratoliner deluxe. They should have had more features in the fairing. Would love to see a screaming Eagle version of a strat. That would be awesome.

None of us want to see the big Yamahas go away, but obviously people are not buying them as much as the little plastic ones.
We aren't in to it,
but we all know that HD image is hard for some people to shake.

They will not keep both the Roadie and the liners no reason to have 2 big bikes. Which ever one they keep they will have a full dress bagger, possibly on the Venture platform. No changes to the Vstars and the Vmax other then colors. The Bolt gets some aesthetic options to things like a cowl, fenders, side covers to give it different looks form the same platform (ie Cafe, naked, sportster type)

Unfortunately, the US motorcycle market is the gnat on the elephants tail. Oriental markets eclipse it in such huge numbers it unbelievable.
Those markets highly favor the smaller cc models.
And the US market for larger displacement models is shrinking. So if I am Yamaha, do I want to invest in a tough fight for shrinking share of markets in a shrinking large displacement market that looks like a losing model, or do I want to knock it out of the park in the smaller displacement markets?
Sad reality.

Moco's marketing still blows my mind. Look at all the bike models surrounded by the same engine.
Add a piece of chrome here or take a piece off there and shorten the fender an inch and call it something else.
The dynas, soft tails, glides, etc. I really can't tell what's what and I'm not going to offend anyone trying to name it.
The sportster lineup alone will fill a dealer showroom.
Yamaha has pretty much nailed a dependable, big twin engine and now they want to use that nail for the coffin?
